Branch Group
During my summer with Branch Builds, I had the opportunity to work on the reconstruction of Christiansburg High School. The experience was invaluable, as I participated in rotations both in the field and in the office, gaining insight into the intricate process of managing a large-scale construction project.
While the office work laid the foundation for the project’s success, being in the field and seeing the physical construction come to life was especially rewarding. Below, you’ll find examples of the on-site work I led. This hands-on experience deepened my appreciation for the collaboration and effort required to bring a project of this scale to fruition.
During the reconstruction of Christiansburg High School, half of the building was demolished, leaving an open area that posed a safety risk to workers. To address this, I was tasked with designing, building, and installing a 25-foot-long safety railing that adhered to all safety guidelines. This railing ensured a secure work environment and prevented potential accidents, emphasizing the importance of proactive safety measures on a construction site.

Near the demolition area, there was an electrical component used to power the lights and some of our equipment. With rain forecasted for the next day, we were tasked with building a shelter to protect the electrical setup from the weather. We designed and constructed a weather-resistant structure that ensured the electrical equipment remained safe and functional, preventing potential damage and ensuring the smooth continuation of the project despite adverse conditions.

Bonus Field Work
In addition to the primary tasks on the building itself, there was a significant amount of site maintenance that needed to be done around the property. I had the opportunity to take on much of this work throughout the summer, contributing to the overall upkeep and organization of the construction site.
